Former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings has opened up on Mr. John Mahama’s turn down of advice to prosecute corrupt officials during the John Agyekum Kufuor reign when he assumed power.

The founder of the National Democratic Congress also revealed that the erstwhile president, the late John Atta Mills after been sworn into office of the presidency refused to heed any guidelines from him after proof of evidence to expose the New Patriotic Party for prosecution. He recalled that the late professor Mills tagged himself as the chosen one of God and refuted to pour judgment on the corrupt leaders then.

"Mahama tactically refused to prosecute ministers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for his own good," told cadres during the official opening of this year's annual National Cadres Conference at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

"I pressurized them to crack the whip on the corrupt officials but they refused. Mills would always say he was chosen by God just to rebut my advice to crack the whip. Then it came to Mahama who also left it like that so that he too could go and take refuge there when he had exhausted his time in political office."

The founder of the National Democratic Congress who revealed sometime ago that there had been times in the past when he felt like leaving the party he founded, and moving on but the plight of good people in the party held him lambasted unpatriotic sons of the NDC for inhabiting spots which is not for the interest of the party.

"They have purchased the power of the party into their pockets even though they know that their aim is not 2020.

He addressed that such know that winning power in 2020 is not attainable yet for the sake of their pockets, they still hold and plan towards it.

"Their main target is 2024 when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would have been weak by then," he said.
