Dejan Lovren has criticized the packed football schedule resulting in a number of injuries on Liverpool players.

According to the Zenit Saint Petersburg defender, the lack of time for pre-season and spaces in between games is contributing to the harms players are encountering.

Jurgen Klopp earlier joined Pep Guardiola and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in voicing their criticisms at the tensed schedules last week and called on the Premier League to embrace five substitutions but the request seem not adhered by the PL.

Liverpool have lost Van Dijk through injury for a lengthy period after his clash with Jordan Pickford in the Merseyside derby last month together with Thiago Alcantara.

Lovren, who won the Premier League title with the Reds last season before leaving from Russia has called on the schedulers of matches to have a second thought and ease the arrangements.

He wrote: “People wondering why there is so many injuries, it’s simple.

“Too many games, impossible to recover, when you know that this year is a weird one (Covid). No proper time off, (personally I had only 8 days off) no proper pre-season and then the crazy schedule.

“@ToniKroos is right and many other managers said the same thing over and over again but nobody listens.

“People who write and decide the schedule of matches should think about this topic.”
