Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike was on hand to supervise the demolition of hotels in Eleme, and Onne areas of the state over the violation of lockdown rules.

Wike had set rules against lockdown to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the state but the hotels namely, Prodest Hotel, Onne and Etemeteh Hotel, Eleme were still operating.

Other places where Wike supervised their demolition were erring bars and joints.

The governor had been going round town to see vehicles who are violating the lockdown order. While some movements have been for a genuine and approved cause, others who have not been approved had the cars seized and the owners to be arrested and taken to isolation centres in the state.

However, Wike has stated reasons why he demolished Prodest Hotel in Alode and Etemeteh Hotel in Onne, both in Eleme Local Government Area of the state.

Wike said the hotels were demolished after it violated an Executive Order on COVID 19, despite warnings from the State government.
