Negotiation involving RB Leipzig and Liverpool has halted after the English club pulled due to a high price value for Timo Werner.

Werner signed a new RB Leipzig contract in August 2019, agreeing on a new deal until the end of the 2022-23 season with a release clause of £50m, which Liverpool are reportedly not willing to meet.

According to the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp is not willing to pay £50m for Werner due to the economic capsize caused by the coronavirus pandemic for the past months of inactive sporting activities.

The Reds value Werner at £30m pounds in today’s market and Leipzig have reportedly said they will not negotiate below the 24-year old release clause.

 Liverpool in 2017 triggered the release clause of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, which was £48 million in addition to paying undisclosed premium before he joined them in July 1, 2018. A similar fashion was in place for Werner’s clause to be activated after series of talks between both clubs and the player.

Its either Werner wait for his three-year deal to edge closer by which his value would have dropped or joins a club ready to release him from the clause.

Werner is on the radar of Barcelona and Bayern Munich yet sources have disclosed that none is willing to acquire his services for such an amount after the transfer market was reset following abnormal figures on players formerly.

With the relationship Liverpool has with Red Bull clubs especially Leipzig, a deal is likely to work through when the season is finished especially when the player has declared his love to join the soon to be English champions on countless platforms.
