Thiago Silva has finally been confirmed as a Chelsea player.

The former Paris Saint Germain captain has signed a one year contract with an option of a further 12 months.

Thiago was refused a contract extension at PSG after his current deal with the Ligue 1 side ended.

The central defender played his last game against Bayern Munich in the final of the Champions League but lost out to the German giants by a goal to nil. His side failed to lay hands on the European trophy, a feat he would have been deeply remembered for after his departure.

The 35-year old who hopes to compete in the next World Cup tournament chose Chelsea to gain more playing time to shapen up.
