Players prepare ahead of the Brighton game

Jurgen Klopp has updated that it would take late decisions to decide which of his players will feature in their game against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex.

The Reds will play the Seagulls at lunchtime, two days after their 2-0 defeat to Atalanta at Anfield in the Champions League.

Klopp’s side is obstructed with numerous injury crises ahead of their fixture – Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have been sidelined for a longer period of time, with Thiago Alcantara, Trent Arnold Alexander, Naby Keita, Oxlade Chamberlain and Xhedan Shaqiri nearing a return.

The manager during his pre-match conference revealed that Jordan Henderson is also closing in on a return yet “he’ll have to wait until the medical department tells me who looks like [they’re] ready.”

“Hendo trained yesterday, parts of team training and then had his individual session, so we have to see what we do with that.

“For all the other players who played now [against Atalanta], they are still in recovery, so that’s how it is when you have only these few days in between.

“We have to make late decisions, so if you were to ask me now what will be the line-up and I was in a mood to tell you, I couldn’t!

“I [will] make this decision as late as possible because I have to wait until the medical department tells me who looks like [they’re] ready.

“Then it looks like from now on we have another 25-and-a-half hours to make sure that we bring the fittest and freshest players on the pitch.”

Liverpool are level on points with Spurs who play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

They will resume European duty against Ajax on Tuesday at Anfield.
