Jurgen Klopp will have a meeting with Gini Wijnaldum on Wednesday to talk about the future of the midfielder according to the Daily Express.

The Dutch international has 12 months on his current contract and the Reds require an extension from the player to keep him at Liverpool.

He is been tracked by former Netherlands manager, Ronald Koeman ahead of a move to Barcelona.

The new Blaugranas manager has known the 29-year-old throughout his two-year role as the head coach of the Dutch national team and he believes Wijnaldum has the capacity to run his central department alongside fellow compatriot, Frenkie De Jong.

The midfielder since his £23 million transfer from Newcastle United has helped the Reds win the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, and the coveted Premier League last season.

He scored two goals against the Catalan club two seasons ago as Liverpool overturned a 3-0 deficit in the first leg of the European cup semifinals at Anfield to make it to the finals for the second consecutive time to win the prestigious accolade.

The Sunday Mirror claimed at the weekend that the versatile asset for Jurgen Klopp would cost Barca around £15m, a price that would be fair to Barcelona due to the player's contract ending.

When quizzed about his former manager’s interest, the Liverpool player responded, "It’s a rumor, I have nothing to say about it.”

Jurgen Klopp’s interest in Thiago Alcantara means he might let go of the Dutch in order to depend on his sales for the purchase of the 29-year old Spaniard who has been on top of the news after ending his trade with the Bayern Munich.
