Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool will only make the right signing in defense of their Premier League due to the ill effect of the coronavirus on the finances of his team.

The Reds have so far signed Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos for a reported £10m as a cover-up for Andrew Robertson a few weeks ago after missing out on Timo Werner.

The Premier League champions failed to activate his £52m release clause before he joined Chelsea.

They have been long linked with Thiago Alcantara but as to when the deal will be finalized remains to be known, with the player having said his final goodbye after rejecting a contract extension earlier from Bayern Munich.

Jurgen Klopp has disclosed that a lot of players are interested to play for the Reds but the finances are not available, therefore it is better to maintain and put his squad in better shape.

“Now, in corona times, you have to think five times before making a transfer because nobody knows what will happen after corona," Klopp told Servus TV.

"We always have to pay attention to the financial aspect because we don't know exactly how much money we will have available. Others seem to deal with it a little more positively when you look at Chelsea.

"There are a lot of interesting players out there but if someone is interesting for us, I can't say right now. But I am very happy with my team right now. If something transfer related will happen, we have to see."
