Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo has appointed Dr. Baffour Awuah of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital as the new Director General of the Ghana Health Service.

He replaces Dr. Nsiah Asare who according to report has been reassigned to take a role as the President’s Health advisor.

Dr. Awuah, a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Business, is a Consultant Radiation Oncologist who has been working at the KATH since June 2010.

Confirmed by a letter dated on November 5, 2019 signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante which detailed that, “the President of the Republic has appointed you to act as Director General of the Ghana Health Service (the ‘Service’), pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Service, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

‘I take this opportunity to congratulate you formally on your appointment, within 14 days of receipt of this letter’
