Jack Ma’s Coronavirus Donations set to be used in Ghana

As the virus spreads Africa gets much-needed supplies from Chinese billionaire Jack Ma.

The Cargo flight containing over six million medical items including face masks, test kits, face shields and protective suits that were donated by Chinese billionaire, Jack Ma, to support Africa against the Coronavirus pandemic has landed in Africa. 

The Co-founder of Alibaba, Jack Ma,  promised to donate masks, test kits, and protective suits to all African countries to help them in their fight against the deadly Coronavirus. Jack Ma's foundation pledged to donate a total of 1.1 million tests kits, 6 million masks and 60,000 protective suits and face shields. 

Although a ban has been placed on all inbound flights and human traffic has been suspended at the Kototka International Airport, such a ban will not impact recuse flights, cargo flights, technical refuelling landing and medical evacuation flights. Therefore Ghana is well placed to received the much needed aid from Jack Ma's foundation.

The supplies have landed in the capital Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Sunday, March 22, 2020. These supplies that have arrived from Guangzhou, China will be distributed from Ethiopian to countries throughout Africa as specified by the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation in a bid to find the spread of the COVID-19 in Africa.

Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed last week pledged to distribute the supplies to other countries in Africa.

Ma has sent similar shipments of medical supplies to countries in Asia, Europe, North America and Latin America.

The virus has been relatively slow to reach Africa but has now spread to at least 43 of the continent's 54 countries, with more than 1,100 cases confirmed. In response many African countries are imposing restrictions.
