It would have been difficult for me to see Messi in another shirt - Pjanic
The Bosnian signed a four-year contract to join Barcelona whiles in Italy
Miralem Pjanic says seeing Messi in another club’s shirt would have been tough for a new signing like him.
The Bosnian footballer described the prolific Argentine as an ‘alien’ and looked to play beside him, having enjoyed being in the same team with Cristiano Ronaldo during his Juventus spell.
"For me, looking at it from the outside, I couldn't see him anywhere other than here," he stated.
"He is a huge player. There is always disappointment after a loss, but this is his home. It would have been difficult for me to see him in another shirt.
"He is the best player of all time, and it is very important that he is still with us.
"I haven't known him for long. I have played with [Francesco] Totti, Cristiano [Ronaldo]... it is important for me to have these footballers beside me.
"They are very important players and for me, they are an example.
"It will be unique to share a dressing room with an alien. But the whole group is important."
The former Juventus midfielder signed a four-year contract with Juventus before the end of the season in a 65 million euro offer and was unveiled by Barcelona on Tuesday afternoon at the Camp Nou.
The 30-year old spoke that it’s a great opportunity to serve Barcelona and with the history attached to the club, he will give his best to assist his fellow for the advantage of the Blaugranas.
"To play here is a great honor," he told the press.
"It was a dream to play here. To be here is something extraordinary. I am very happy to have arrived.
"I am at the greatest team in the world and it is a great honor.
"As I entered the dressing room, I saw the history, the trophies ... it's a great opportunity for me. There are great players and I hope to help with my experience and football.
"Barcelona have been the benchmark for me and for football."
Pjanic will wear the number 8 jersey as unveiled today.
