Thiago Alcantara seems to have his mind up to taste Premier League football after experiences in the Spanish La Liga and Bundesliga with Barcelona and Bayern Munich respectively.

The 29-year-old was reported by The Sun to have bidden farewell to teammates with his sights set on joining Liverpool ahead of next season.

According to his manager, Hansi Flick after winning the German Cup, he is in the position of convincing the attacking midfielder to stay at the Allianz Arena however, it’s quite human for players to opt for changes.

"The thing is, I always have hope," Flick said. "I'm actually always very positive about things.

"I also know, of course, that when you're at a certain age and you've already played in the Spanish league with Barcelona and in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, you feel the need to experience another big league.

"That is quite normal and that is also human. I'm trying my best to make sure Thiago stays here and that you can convince him to stay."

Thiago rejected a new contract offered by the Bavarians and was reported over the weekend that Liverpool had agreed a £31m move for the midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp during his pre-match conference acknowledged the brilliance of Thiago and refused to rule out a move for the Bayern playmaker.

"Would you be surprised if I didn't answer? He's a good player I like a lot but like many others out there," he said.
