Odion Ighalo is expected to move back to Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua to fulfill his contract when his loan deal expires on May 31, 2020.

The Nigerian International has been on loan at Old Trafford as a cover for Marcus Rashford. He is supposed to finish the current league season, distracted by the coronavirus pandemic, expected to return in June yet the Super League club insists the player abandon the Premier League and return to his mother club as agreed earlier.

Ighalo’s contribution to the Manchester United course has been immense following his four goals in eight appearances for the Red Devils. With Marcus Rashford nearing recovery, the boyhood Manchester United fan’s service might not be needed regardless of his desire to finish the season.

Reported by the Times, the Chinese club insist Ighalo returns as planned and are ready to offer him a whopping £75m to put off his interest from Manchester United and extend his deal for Shanghai Shenhua.

With a pile-up of fixtures awaiting United, who are contending in three competitions with 18 games in just two months, the services of Ighalo might still be needed to complete the season.

Ighalo was with United last week at training and it is understood he will report to Carrington this week as the club explore any opportunity to keep him until the end of the season.
