Ghanaian artiste, Sidney Barima has said he will release the music video to his controversial "Papa No" track despite a court injunction.

It was earlier reported that the artiste had been legally attacked over his "Papa No" track because supporters of the NDC felt it was a plot against Ex-President John Mahama to soil his name.

Sidney Barima, who had already explained that the song is not aimed at anyone but is just meant to follow the trend that was present at that time expressed his surprise at the turn of events.

“When I released this song, people were reading meanings into it. I never mentioned anybody’s name in the song. We are all looking for the ‘Papa No’ and we all don’t have any clue of him. All over social media, people were attaching some images to my song."

"Pictures of some high profile personalities like that of the former president Mahama who has nothing to do with the song was used. It’s not fair that I haven’t mentioned anybody’s name and yet I’ve been dragged to court. I know nothing about this and for that matter, my management is releasing a press statement to that effect,” he had said.

It has now been confirmed that it was a private individual identified as Abdul Ganiu who had asked an Accra High Court to restrain Ghanaian Hiplife musician Barima Sidney from releasing his latest music video. Abdul sought an order for an "interlocutory injunction" to be placed on the video for the controversial nature of the song.

The injunction will restrain the defendants (Sidney Oppong Ofori and his Squadie Entertainment) from releasing the said video to various media outlets. The injunction will also restrain the premiere or promotion of the video.

Sidney Barima has said that the NDC individuals will not intimidate him into sweeping his song under the carpet while speaking with Class News' Nasaria Abdul Rahman. He stated that he will go-ahead to release the video despite having seen the court order because he has not been served the order officially. He said until he is served the order before 3 September 2020 which is the release date, he will go ahead to premiere the video.

“Well, I will say it is true. A journalist friend of mine sent me a screenshot of the suit or whatever yesterday at 6 pm. We didn't even understand it so we forwarded it to a lawyer and later in the evening, the lawyer confirmed that it is true. But then since I haven't been served directly, let's just hold on. So it is true.

“Definitely, we plan on releasing it tomorrow so far as I haven't been served yet. So we will still go ahead and release the video tomorrow. I'm listening to the directives from my lawyer. They know best so whatever they say...,” Sidney said.
