I was less annoyed with Klopp's comments - Lampard hits back
Frank Lampard

Jurgen Klopp’s comments on the Blues summer spending spree seems not to have gone well with Frank Lampard.

According to the Chelsea boss, it was funny to have those words coming from a world-class manager in the person of the German.

Chelsea has spent over £200m as compared to the Reds who have only made one signing, Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos for £11.75m after selling Dejan Lovren out of the club for £10m.

Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, and Ben Chilwell have all been acquired to reinforce the Blues team as Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr joined as free agents from PSG and Nice respectively.

The Champions have so far not made any major signing after Chelsea beat them for Timo Werner who was expected to arrive at Anfield in the summer.

A move for Thiago Alcantara has been speculated for weeks as fans are still hoping for the player’s arrival.

Jurgen Klopp when asked whether major signings should be expected addressed that his team will invest within their means since they do not have 'oligarchs’ owners to provide much funds for players in such a coronavirus era.

"I was less annoyed with it, I found it more, slightly amusing, I would say," said Lampard in response with Klopp's comments.

"Because I think when you talk about the owners of clubs, I don't think it matters what line of business they come from, we're talking about some very wealthy owners of clubs in the Premier League.

"I think with Liverpool's story - and I referenced it a lot last year, Liverpool's story - it's a fantastic story of a club over four-and-a-half, five years that Jurgen Klopp's been there that have managed to get recruitment right to a really high level."
