Virgil van Dijk has self-confessed that his blunder towards Arsenal’s equalizer is what caused the third loss for the champions in the 2019/20 season.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Europe intensified after they were gifted two goals in the first half to overcome the champions by 2-1 at the Emirates on Wednesday night.

The Reds took the lead through Sadio Mane in the 20-minute but Alexandre Lacazette capitalized on a mistake by Virgil Van Dijk, rounded Alisson, and slotted in the ball to go level.

Alisson, a minute to the break gave away possession and was punished by Reiss with a composed finish.

The second loss since the restart means Liverpool have dropped eight points in their last five games since winning the title.

Pundits claim the momentum for chasing the title has disappeared since the Reds were crowned Champions but according to the World Best defender, it is never so.

“It’s too easy to blame it on that. Until I made the mistake there was nothing wrong. We played well and I felt we could win here comfortably at one point. If you give them goals, you can see what happens. Unfortunately, I made a mistake. I take the blame for it – I take it as a man, and we move on.”

Liverpool will host Chelsea at Anfield on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Anfield.

They will officially be presented with the trophy and medals.
