Ghanaian comedian, Ajeezay, has said that he, and not anyone else, started the #Dontleavemechallenge.

He laid out his claim when Jay Foley of Joy FM credited a Nigerian as the originator of the challenge. The comedian expressed his disappointment at the station and the host of the show for not knowing that he, a full citizen of Ghana, started the now-viral social media phenom.

Jay Foley of Joy FM's credited the movement to Nigeria's Josh2Funny, a Nigerian Comedian with massive presence on the various social media platforms. The radio presenter followed the news piece read by Emefa Apawu that started that the Nigerian comedian really started the challenge.

Ajeezay said he was shocked and was upset by the news because he could not believe that a Ghanaian media outlet did not know that the challenge was started by a fellow countryman. He pointed out that a lot of people were aware of it, as he provided evidence that he is the originator.

Ajeezay in 2015, began #NonfaChallenge – a wordplay which one uses two different words that when combined will mean another word. Few years after, Josh2Funny took the challenge and changed the name to #Dontleavemechallenge.

I feel very sad being a Ghanaian right now …. like really JAY FOLLEY & Joy FM ??? At least CITI fm did better! You claim support your own but you don’t act!! Smh,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
