Roberto Martinez has spoken that Eden Hazard will be available for selection during the 2020 UEFA Nations League.

Hazard’s fitness has been hampered with injury with an ankle injury occurring in Real Madrid's recent defeat to Levante.

The former Chelsea player will undergo surgery on Thursday in Dallas, with renowned ankle specialist Dr. Eugene Curry taking control of the procedure.

The Belgium coach believes that regardless of the recovery period, he is hopeful that Hazard will be a partaker of this year’s European tournament.

"I have no doubt he'll be there," Martinez said at the draw for the UEFA Nations League group stage.

"The recovery deadlines are impossible to determine because you have to see the operation and determine the deadlines from there.

"The first two weeks are important, but knowing Eden and how he's worked on other small injuries he has had, we are sure that we will have him with us [at Euro 2020].

"We'll see him in Real Madrid's shirt before the national team's shirt."

Regarding Hazard's operation, Martinez intimated that everything went well.

"Eden is very calm and very positive," Martinez noted.

"Real Madrid's medical team are very happy with the idea of having the surgery and from here, we have to go step by step."

Hazards time at Chelsea saw him fit as fiddle enjoy much playing time. His spell in Madrid since his €100 million has most of the times been on the sidelines and this that manager has attributed to bad luck.

"He's had very bad luck," Martinez admitted.

"He's going to have missed more than 20 games in the whole season, [but] when you look at the statistics you'll see that Eden has hardly stopped playing [in the last few years].

"In the last eight years at Chelsea, he hasn't even missed the 20 he's missed this season.

"It's something that's linked to the player."

The Belgium International is with a decision to rectify the ankle problem for the long term.
