A Tottenham fan has told talkSPORT Eric Dier ‘completely lost it’ and was ‘like the Incredible Hulk’ when he confronted a supporter following Spurs’ FA Cup exit to Norwich.

Social media went into meltdown on Wednesday night after a host of videos and photos were posted of Dier jumping over the barrier and clambering up the stands to apparently confront a fan who was angry after watching his side get dumped out of the cup on penalties.

According to Jose Mourinho, though, Dier was actually jumping in to defend his brother, who appeared to have got into a scrap with a fellow supporter.

A number of video clips have emerged of the incident online, but none really show the whole picture of what happened.

White Hart Lane regular Neil was nearby so watched the entire incident unfold, and he called into the Sports Bar on Wednesday night to share just what he saw.

“It all happened right in front of us,” he told talkSPORT.

“There were two guys who were fighting after the match, they were in the crowd pushing and trying to fight, and, I don’t know, but it looked like it could have been his brother – that’s what Mourinho said.

“But then Eric Dier lost the plot, and the next thing you know he is bounding up the stairs. There must have been about 20 fans trying to hold him back, he was like the Incredible Hulk.

“It was really sad to see actually; he lost the plot, lost it, and I feel sorry for him. He actually had a good game, as well.

“There was a Spurs fan who had obviously done something or said something, that’s who Eric Dier was after.

“A Spurs fan then put his hands up and tried to get out of the ground and Dier just went after him and was going bananas.

“As I said, I felt sorry for him. He lost it, completely lost it.

“There were people holding him back, there were phones in his face, we’ve got videos, it’s all over social media.

“He’s in big trouble now.”

Meanwhile, Sports Bar host Jason Cundy defended Dier’s actions, insisting he reacted in a way anybody would if a member of their family was in danger.

And while Mourinho has said he hopes Tottenham will not take disciplinary action against the player, Cundy hopes the FA will also see common sense.

“If you are seeing your brother and your family in an altercation with someone, and don’t forget emotions are running high because they’ve just be knocked out of the FA Cup, you’re going to do what he did.

“I’m not condoning it, but you are going to do what Eric Dier did.

“Footballers put up with a huge amount of abuse. It wouldn’t be the first time family members have had to listen to abuse of their family members who are playing.

“This is a human reaction, it’s got nothing to do with being a footballer, it’s a human, natural reaction to go and help your family.

“I just hope the FA when they deal with this there is some sort of thought process and they show common sense, because it was a family member involved.”
