Legendary Ghanaian rapper, Reggie Rockstone, has bemoaned the lack of support that Ghanaian artistes get from their own people.

The "grandfather of Hiplife" likened the situation to that of Jesus Christ, who professed that a "Prophet has no honor in his own country" saying Ghanaian music lovers even go as far as to discredit and disrespect their own just for fun.

The veteran explained that an average Ghanaian would rather hype a Nigerian musician over any other Ghanaian artiste even if the Ghanaian artiste is much better. He sighted the cases of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, pointing out how Ghanaians have treated their collaborations with great foreign music talents like American music superstars Beyonce and Keri Hilson respectively as if it were ordinary achievements.

While when Nigerian artiste, Davido, revealed that he was set to feature American artiste, Nicki Minaj, Ghanaians went wild with enthusiasm. Reggie Rockstone has condemned this, arguing that anyone with any knowledge of music will know that Beyoncé is greater than Nicki Minaj in terms of reputation and everything else.

'Ghanaians have adopted the Jesus syndrome a little bit too much...With Nigeria, Nigeria has a serious level of patriotism. Their level of patriotism is unrivaled. Look, let me give you an example. A few years ago, if you spoke about Nigeria, it was about 419. It was synonymous with 419 but look at what Afro Beats did.

"It's done a PR job for them. Now, when you mention Nigeria, they're talking about Afro Beats...So, Ghanaians are what we call in New York; dick riders!... They're not gonna do for themselves but they wanna talk about the next person'', he lamented while speaking in an interview with Nkonkonsa.com.

Reggie Rockstone is now calling on Ghanaians to show more enthusiasm towards Ghanaian music, as it is what a true patriot will do.
