Ghanaian producer invited to Grammys
Juls

Ghanaian record producer, Juls, has been invited to join The Recording Academy.

The British born hitmaker was named in a list containing 2,321 prominent music professionals from around the world. These invitations serve as an acknowledgment of important contributions to the music scene and the potential to spur positive changes in the industry.

Out of the 2,321 invited artistes, 48 percent female, 21 percent African American/African descent, eight percent Hispanic, and three percent Asian American and Pacific Islander.

According to the academy's senior director, Kelly Purcell, a lot has changed since the last list in terms of diversity of the selected candidates. Due to black lives and transgender movement, the choices have been made to be as diverse as possible.

This year’s “freshman class,” as the academy calls it, is 48% female (compared to 49% in last year’s freshman class invites), 21% African American/African descent (compared to 26%), 8% Hispanic (compared to 7%), 3% Asian American/Pacific Islander/Asian (same as last year) and 51% people who are age 39 or younger (same as last year).
