Gareth Bale's laughter as he held up a flag mocking Real Madrid following Wales' progression to the 2020 European Championship is the umpteenth controversy the forward has been involved in in recent months.

The relationship between Bale and Real Madrid is more broken than ever, and a departure in the January transfer window seems mandatory because there is no way that things can be mended.

This season, Real Madrid's supporters have shown their displeasure for the nature of Bale's injuries. In September, he returned from international duty with an injury after playing Croatia.

He had cramps, but the player wanted to impose what some soon dubbed 'Bale Law' whereby footballers have the right to protect their medical information.

In other words, Bale did not want Real Madrid to make public what had happened to him whilst playing for Wales.

At the end of September, there was another controversial incident. Bale travelled to London without an apparent reason for doing so, and above all without speaking to Zinedine Zidane about why.

The coach himself confirmed that the 30-year-old had spoken to the club and the doctors, but not with him, proving that their relationship is broken.

This feud had been brewing for a long time and hit its peak when Zidane asked that Bale be sold as soon as possible, something that ultimately did not occur because the market for the Welshman was minimal to none.

November brought another incident, with Bale and James Rodriguez leaving the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu 10 minutes before the end of their match against Real Betis, with the scores level at 0-0.

The Welshman left in his car, where he listened to the end of the match, in what is yet another sign of disrespect to Real Madrid's supporters.

It was then explained that players not in the matchday squad can leave the Bernabeu from the 80th minute onwards due to construction work at the stadium, yet many saw Bale's actions as yet another inconsiderate act towards Los Blancos.

But there was more to come. Just a few days ago, whilst with Wales ahead of their crucial 2020 European Championship qualifiers, Bale openly acknowledged that he is more motivated playing for the Dragons than with Real Madrid.

"I definitely have a bit more excitement playing for Wales [than Real Madrid]," he said.

Then, on Tuesday night, Bale once again disrespected Real Madrid by laughing with his Welsh teammates as they held up a flag that read the forward's order of priorities: Wales, golf, Madrid.

Deciding to mock the team that pays him 17 million euros per season and has persisted with him, despite his refusal to integrate into Spanish life, his lack of professionalism and, above all, his multiple injuries says a lot not only about the player himself but also the person that Bale is.
