Fumigation Exercise to take place in the various markets in the Ashanti Region on Friday

 A mass spraying exercise will take place on Friday, March 27, 2020 in market centers in the 43 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA) in the Ashanti Region.

The exercise is part of government’s measures to restrain the COVID-19 infections in the country.

Ghana recorded its 68th case on Wednesday morning and per the president’s directives led by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development towards the various MMDA’s throughout Ghana, the fumigation exercise is part of efforts to manage the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 signed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah, “a team of sprayers will be conducting the exercise in the region and during the period, all market will be locked-down to prevent all obstruction during th exercise.”

The statement clarified that the chemicals used for the exercise are not toxic therefore any fears by the general public should be allayed.

“For emphasis, the general public must note that markets will not operate on Friday, 27 th March, 2020 in the Ashanti Region,” it said.

The public are entreated to cooperate to ensure a successful exercise.
