Mikel Arteta believes that football in the Premier League will be enjoyed best if Lionel Messi completes his City move as speculated.

Jurgen Klopp earlier underlined that the Argentine’s inclusion will make Manchester City formidable to contend for titles they have failed to grab.

According to the Arsenal manager, who has been a Barcelona fan since childhood, the news of the world's best player leaving the football team is a discomfort to Barcelona fans who are used to enjoying the heroics of the Argentine week in and out in the Laliga.

“He has been linked everywhere, you know? He has more clubs than any other player in history after him. I've been a Barcelona fan since I was young and it's always sad to see, who in my opinion has been the best player in football history, leave that football club.

“Let's see what happens, if he comes to England we're all going to enjoy it.

Arsenal will play Liverpool at Wembley on Saturday, three weeks after the end of the 2019/20 league season. Teams have had limited time to prepare for their usual preseason tours due to the three months coronavirus disruption which held sporting activities.

Man City and United have had their opening fixtures postponed following their European campaign, which prolonged their season than the rest of the clubs.

Arteta divulged during his Community Shied pre-match that clubs have no choice when it comes to adhering to the Premier League’s implementations since it’s for the best.  He reflected that a break was needful to attend their families and other obligations, which has already been established.

“Well it's not hard because we really like our job and we have the privilege to work in this industry. We needed some time to just reflect on what we did and also to put our minds a bit away from football.

“I think we had the chance to do it, not as we normally do, but enough and the player seem in good condition mentally and physically. We are ready to go. We have no choice, we have a cup to play [for] on Saturday.”
