Victor Font has told Manchester City to back down interest in Lionel Messi regardless of their desperate need for the Argentine.

According to the presidential candidate, Messi’s contract renewal will be a key part of his appointment hence the need to emphatically reveal to the Premier League club to forget about acquiring the World Best Player.

Font in an interview published by talkSPORTS addressed that City seeks for the 33-year old to win Europe’s elite title and he has spoken to the Chief Executive of the Premier League club to forget about the Blaugranas captain and adopt new alternatives of making a name in Europe.

“I already told [Ferran] Soriano [chief executive] to forget about Messi, to look for alternatives to win the Champions League.
