Real Madrid president, Fiorentino Perez sent out a message of congratulation to Borussia Dortmund after their 4-0 win against Schalke in the Bundesliga restart, revealed by Borussia Dortmund general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke

The German club was the first to confirm the safeness of returning to the pitch after two months without football following the coronavirus outbreak.

"First of all I want to show my gratitude to the government," Watzke said in an interview with SKY after his team's triumphant return.

"They made the return to the pitch possible.

"The credit for being the first country to return to the competition after the coronavirus [enforced] pause is theirs.

"I was getting congratulations from all sides, from Florentino Perez to Jurgen Klopp.

The German club scored four goals in the Revierderby against Schalke 04 with Haaland abiding by his scoring abilities before Raphael Guerreiro netted two in both halves and Thorgan Hazard added a fourth to keep Dortmund on the second spot. The Norwegian has been on the radar of Real Madrid since his transfer from Salzburg.

Perez as a sign of interest applauded Dortmund for their performance, defining them as a ‘great team’.

"Perez even wrote that he was delighted with the performance of a great team," Hans-Joachim Watzke wrote.
