Rio Ferdinand has slammed Manchester United's recruitment policy saying it is so provoking.

The Red Devils have failed to come to terms with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of Jadon Sancho, a deal, which seems closed following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side’s failure to meet the price demand of Dortmund.

Frank Lampard has spent more than £200m for the acquisition of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, and Ben Chilwell. Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr have all joined on a free transfer as Nathan Ake and Ferran Torres have been grabbed by Man City.

Liverpool's pursuit of Thiago has finally be done after the Bundesliga winners confirmed that the Spaniard is on his way to Anfield to complete his move on Thursday morning.

Man United have only signed Donny van de Beek for an amount of £35.7m (€40m) plus add ons with no concrete approach to any other player.

Ferdinand is very concerned as to why the Red Devils seem dormant in the transfer window allowing rivals to pick the very best to compete.

“Frank has made signing players like it's the norm, like it's easy – water off a duck's back,” Ferdinand told the Five YouTube Channel.

“The difference in the way Chelsea have done their business compared to say my team Man United… there is no noise, there's nothing going on, all you're seeing is bang – deal. Little bit of talk, bang-deal.

“That is what's frustrating for me and all the Man United fans. Sancho was talked about months ago. Still not done, it's so frustrating.

“I'm not saying deals are easy to be done but Chelsea are showing deals can be done if you put the money down and it's all done in the right way.”

The Red Devils will start their Premier League campaign on Saturday against Crystal Palace.
