Manchester United needed extra time in order to see off Copenhagen in their Europa League quarter-final.

Bruno Fernandes scored the winning goal by converting from the spot to give the Premier League side a 1-0 win. 

The Portuguese star has 11 goals for United since his arrival in the winter transfer window.

A resolute Copenhagen side frustrated United, with their goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnsson making a number of astonishing stops.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men hit the woodwork twice and Mason Greenwood had a goal disallowed.

And after a 0-0 scoreline after 90 minutes, early into extra time, Anthony Martial was fouled and Fernandes stepped up to send United into the semi-final where they will face either Sevilla or Wolves.
