Manchester City have suffered their second loss in the Premier League after a 2-0 defeat to Spurs in London.

Son opened the scores in the 4-minute before substitute, Lo Celso doubled the lead in the second half.

Jose Mourinho made two changes from the win at West Brom with Steven Bergwijn, replacing Gareth Bale and Serge Aurier taking the place of Matt Doherty who tested positive for Covid-19 and is isolating.

Raheem Sterling was unfit enough for the bench giving way to Riyad Mahrez who joined Gabriel Jesus in attack with the Brazilian getting the nod over Sergio Aguero, who was on the bench.

Tottenham quickly caught open City with their first real attack in the 4-minute after a deceptive play which caused a defensive blunder by Ndombele. He clipped a simple ball over the top and Son was away on Ederson, who was quick out of his goal yet made it easy for the forward to score the opening the goal.

City tried to step up but Spurs central pair were too strong and composed for the visitors to locate a space. They worked some nice angles between their front were prevented from winning the loose balls in the box as they kept dominating the game in the all-important stat.

Laporte levelled the scores in the 24-minute through Jesus, who wriggled into space in the box and pulled the ball back for Laporte to curl home from 15 yards but after VAR’s review, the goal was disallowed for an arm contact by the Brazilian.

Spurs came in strongly in the second half but only took City on the break.

Son almost added a second after Kane turned and threaded a great ball in behind for him. Ederson came charging out of his box but was about two yards short of getting there. Son tried to nick it around him but his touch was too heavy, sending him towards the corner flag. Ederson got back in goal and the chance was lost.

Lo Celso doubled the advantage after 45 seconds of coming in for Ndombele. It was a brilliant instigation by Kane who played with so much class in the hole. He drove through the middle and Spurs worked a four on three. Lo Celso was the man over the overload and he received a perfect pass from Kane. Ederson didn’t cover himself in glory yet again by coming out to meet the Argentine, who slipped one under his body.

Sterling replaced Mahrez as Phil Foden also swapped Bernardo but the game was lost already.

The fourth successive victory sent Jose Mourinho's side two points above Chelsea, whom they face next. Man City are 10th with 12 points.
