Raheem Sterling's first-half double set Manchester City on their way to a 4-0 victory against Watford that means the Hornets' relegation battle will go to the final day.

Watford, who were managed by Hayden Mullins after Nigel Pearson's departure, went behind on 31 minutes when Sterling fired the ball into the top-left corner.

Will Hughes's foul on Sterling handed Man City an opportunity to extend their lead.

Ben Foster got a hand to Sterling's 40th-minute penalty, but he reacted quickly to fire home the rebound for his 19th goal of the season.

Phil Foden added a third on 63 minutes after Sterling's effort was parried by Foster.

And it was 4-0 just four minutes later, this time Aymeric Laporte heading in from Kevin De Bruyne's 19th assist of the campaign.

The result means Watford remain in 17th, three points above Aston Villa, who have a match in hand, and AFC Bournemouth, but their goal difference is now equal with the teams below them.

Second-placed Man City are up to 75 points.
