Demarai Gray celebrates after doubling Leicester's lead with his second Premier League goal of the season

Leicester returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United at the King Power Stadium on Thursday.

The Foxes loss against Bournemouth was not taken advantage of by Manchester United to secure the top four-spot following their 2-2 draw against Southampton last Monday. The Foxes extended their point lead to three, meaning a win for the Red Devils will take them to fifth, level on points.

Ayoze Perez and Demarai Gray scored in both halves to strengthen Brendan Rodgers side’s Champions League spot.

Club captain Wes Morgan, Ryan Bennett, Harvey Barnes, and 19-year-old Luke Thomas earned their first start as Brendan made four changes to the side that was beaten 4-1 by Bournemouth at the weekend. Caglar Soyuncu was suspended and Kelechi Iheanacho started on the bench, with Marc Albrighton and Christian Fuchs missing from the matchday squad.

Chris Wilder maintained the same squad that beat Chelsea 3-0 the last time out.

Sheffield almost opened the scores in the early minutes but McGoldrick effort was intercepted by Justin which sent the ball flying high. Leicester warmed into the game and tried Henderson a couple of times but the goalkeeper was brilliant to prevent the ball from entering his post.

Vardy hit the post after the break after receiving a slotted pass from Tielemans. He drove into the area and been chased by Egan and O’Connell, he struck but hits the post before leaving the pitch.

Gray sealed the win 11 minutes to full time for the Foxes.

It was a superb ball down the left from Evans to release Vardy, and the striker then squared the ball to Gray, who slotted a low, angled finish past Henderson.
