Southampton's Michael Obafemi celebrates after scoring his side's added-time equaliser

Substitute Michael Obafemi scored a dramatic added-time equalizer to deny Manchester United a top-four entry after Chelsea and Leicester slipped up during the weekend.

Southampton played a 2-2 drawn game with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night

Victory would have taken the Red Devils into the top four, but Obafemi bundled the ball home at the far post after Jan Bednarek had flicked on a corner.

Stuart Armstrong gave the Saints an early lead after good work by Danny Ings and Nathan Redmond.

But Anthony Martial set up Marcus Rashford to equalize, before driving a fierce shot into the roof of the net three minutes later to put United ahead.

The Frenchman is the 10th different player to score 50 Premier League goals for Manchester United.

Rashford was denied a second goal midway through the second half by Ryan Bertrand's intervention, but the visitors rallied late on.

David De Gea's fingertip saves kept out Redmond's curled effort late on but, after substitute Brandon Williams had to go off with a head injury, Obafemi struck from close range.

The draw keeps United in fifth place, level on 59 points with fourth-placed Leicester.

Southampton remains in 12th on 45.
