EPL: Liverpool nip Wolves by a lone goal to wrap up 2019 in style; Liverpool 1 - 0 Wolves

Sadio Mane's first-half goal proved the difference as Liverpool moved 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp made one change from the side that beat Leicester 4-0 on Boxing Day with Naby Keita being replaced by Adam Lallana.

Wolves made four chances from their win against Man City. Romain Saiss, Matt Doherty, Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez all started on the bench. Ryan Bennett, Max Kilman, Pedro Neto and Ruben Vinagre came into the side.

Liverpool started brightly and Mohamed Salah shot over the bar when well placed inside the penalty area.

Mane put the Premier League leaders ahead in the 42nd minute, the goal awarded after consultation with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) after it had originally been ruled out for handball in the build-up against Adam Lallana.

Pedro Neto thought he had equalized for Wolves on the stroke of half-time after Coady collected the ball right near the centre line and swept it to Moutinho on the right-hand side. He then picked out Jonny deeper on the flank and his delivery flashes past everyone inside the area before finding the unmarked Neto at the top of the area.

Alexander-Arnold got the slightest of touches onto the ball to take it into Neto's pass, but was a wonderful finish yet disallowed by the VAR after Jonny was adjudged to be offside.

After the break, Diogo Jota's strike was well saved by Alisson, while Ruben Vinagre and Adama Traore fired over as Wolves could not find an equalizer.

Liverpool's 10th Premier League win in a row leaves them on 55 points, ahead of second-placed Leicester City with a match in hand.

Wolves drop to seventh on 30 points.
