Liverpool have won their first eight games, and have stretched the lead by eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.

It took James Milner’s additional time penalty to decide the game in favor of the Reds. Mane scored the opener five minutes to end the first half before James Maddison levelled the scores 10 minutes to full time.

Joe Gomez was dropped to the bench after Wednesday's win over Red Bull Salzburg, with Jordan Henderson joining him among the substitutes as James Milner was recalled. Dejan Lovren was in at the back for his first league start this season. Brendan Rodgers made only one change for Leicester, with James Maddison fit enough to be recalled and Ayoze Perez dropping to the bench.

Brendan Rodgers received a friendly welcome from the fans of Liverpool at Anfield.

Leicester were looking to thwart the attacking threat of Liverpool's full-backs in the opening minutes. Twice Adrian floated the ball out to Alexander-Arnold, twice he was closed down straight away. But they let both him and Robertson go from Liverpool's next attack. Robertson got down the outside of Pereira before Soyuncu headed his cross away. Alexander-Arnold tried his luck from the other side and Liverpool won their first corner of the day in the 8-minute.

Leicester did not threaten the Reds in the box as at the 20-minute but they looked dangerous in their build-up play and defended their own 18-yard box very well.

Chris Kavanagh was about to blow up after Ndidi clattered into Milner on the halfway line in the 30-minute, but he noticed an advantage and played on. It caught Leicester out a little, although the back line kept their shape and Mane, from 20 yards, decided to go for goal and fired straight at Schmeichel.

As the Liverpool forward were finding it tough to break into the Foxes hole, Mane scored from Milner’s intelligent drive in the 40-minute. A wonderful ball down the outside of Evans by Milner, Mane took it in his stride and waited for Schmeichel to come and tuck it in the far corner. Brilliant finish, wonderful assist.

Liverpool came close to doubling their lead barely a minute since the break. Alexander-Arnold picked up Robertson's ball into the right channel, totally unmarked, sent it in from out wide and saw Salah pull a wonderful reflex save out of Schmeichel with his diving effort.

Henderson was introduced for Wijnaldum as Origi subbed Firmino in the 76-minute.

Leicester threatened Liverpool for a couple of times and their effort finally paid off for the equalizer. Perez turned on the right, played Maddison in outside Van Dijk who was totally bamboozled. Adrian attempt to save was beaten by the Foxes midfielder’s low effort.

Soyuncu bounced off Salah when the Leicester man matched him in a foot race in an opportunity to run into the box. Substitute Choudhury after Soyuncu was pushed out of the way steamed into Salah, wiped him out and got a yellow. Salah felt the foul and limped ahead of the free-kick being taken. He hobbled of in additional time for Lallana.

Liverpool was awarded a penalty by the center referee after Sadio Mane attempt to hook on to a ball in the box led to a foul from Albrighton. The Foxes defender dribbled back into his own box, got in a muddle with Schmeichel, lost the ball and made contact on Mane in the box. The Liverpool man went down as Kavanagh pointed to the spot. The VAR was employed and a confirmation was made.

Milner sent Schmeichel the wrong way from the spot to continue Liverpool's winning run.
