EPL Day 7: Forged In Steel BLUNDER put Liverpool 8 points ahead; Sheffield United 0 - 1 Liverpool FC
Gini Wijnaldum scored the only goal at the Bramall Lane

Liverpool defeated Sheffield United by a goal to nil at the Bramall Lane in the early kickoff of the English Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Dean Henderson's howlered the difference on the day to give the Reds the needed three points.

Chris Wilder and Jurgen Klopp both named unchanged sides after their respective away wins at Everton and Chelsea last weekend.

Liverpool begun the first half at with their positional passes. Andy Robertson and Trent Arnold were not given clear passages to hit in the balls to the center forwards.

The host took advantage of the full backs overlaps and initiated the counter attacks through Stevens and Baldock.

They shielded their area as the Reds probed to break through. Sheffield United had the first chance of the game in the 4-minute. Olivier McBurnie chased a long ball down the left channel. He caught inside onto his right foot and fired a decent effort straight down the throat of Adrian.

The Reds saw much of the ball around their area as at the 15-minute but struggled to break into the Sheffield United defense. Wijnaldum, Salah and Firmino combined in an intricate attack that ended with Gini’s shot from the edge of the box. It deflected for Liverpool’s first corner of the day. The corner was whipped inside the area but the Blades bodied it out although replay revealed that it struck the arm of McBurnie in the area.

Sheffield piled the pressure on the Reds as they tried breaking through the defense but outstanding Matip and Van Dijk were always in the air to clear away their crosses.

A huge chance came the way of Liverpool in the 34-minute, Van Dijk visioned Mane running behind the defense of the Blades and located him with a long ball. Mane went through and sliced a woeful effort wide with the goal at mercy.

Sadio hit the post again in the 43-minute in what should have been a clear chance for Firmino. The Reds hit the Blades on the counter as Salah led the charge. He played Firmino with through pass but he held on and donated the ball towards Mane on his left. The Senegalese lashed the ball against the post before Fleck’s covering tackle turned the ball behind for a corner.

Liverpool refused to hit a goal on target in the entire first half.

Sheffield kept their hopes alive in the second half as the uproar of their fans uplifted them to attack deeply in the Reds half. A cross was whipped into the near post but Adrian came off his line and did not get near it. McBurnie's flashed header was just over the bar.

Sheffield made their first change- Mousset replaced Robinson.

Klopp made his first change by bringing Origi for Jordan Henderson. Origi’s immediate involvement was felt as his cutback from the byline found Salah on the edge of the area, but he swiped a clean air and the Blades broke at pace. The ball eventually found Norwood 25 yards from goal, and his dipping effort drew a fingertip save from Adrian in the Liverpool goal.

Liverpool broke the deadlock in the 70-minute through Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Blades dealt with a cross from the left by Origi. A header in the box happened and the ball flew towards Georginio Wijnaldum on the edge of the box. He volleyed the ball back towards goal and what looks to be a routine stop goes horribly wrong as the ball squirmmed through Henderson and trickled over the line.

Adrian was booked for time wasting at goal kick.

Milner replaced Firmino in the 87-minute. The host chased the Reds but their effort proved ineffective as Klopp's men continued their winning run to go eight points clear at the top of the table.
