Enock Agyapong has stated that Eno Barony's recent win at the Afrikan Muzik Magazine Awards and Music Festival (AFRIMMA) should make awards schemes in Ghana and by extension the whole of Ghana ashamed.

He specifically mentioned the Vodafone Ghana Music Award scheme and called the credibility of the scheme in question for awarding the best rapper award to Kwesi Arthur over Eno Barony.

In his words, international awards schemes with proper credibility structure has shown that Eno Barony is on another level, and if not for Ghanaian bias and unethical structures she should have won at the VGMA too.

“It is a disgrace for us as a country to award Kwesi Arthur as the best rapper of the year at the VGMA’s with Eno in the same category and he was not even nominated for the AFRIMMA”.

“Eno is the only Ghanaian who received an award at the AFRIMMA. She saved the face of Ghana”.

“AFRIMMA is telling us something. It means our awards schemes are not right. If AFRIMMA has recognised ENO as the best female rapper in Africa and we failed to acknowledge her in Ghana, then we need to check our award schemes”.

“We will keep being disgraced this way if we don’t change”, he told Doctar Cann on Happy 98.9 FM’s Showbiz Xtra.

This comes after Eno Barony won Best Female Rap Act at the 2020 edition of the AFRIMMA.

She saw off competition from Nadia Nakai (South Africa), Moonaya (Senegal), Rosa Ree (Tanzania), Bombshell Grenade (Zambia), Muthoni Drummer Queen (Kenya), Askia (Cameroon), Candy Bleakz (Nigeria), Keko (Uganda), and Rouge from South Africa to win the top rap accolade in the female category.

The elated artiste expressed her delight on bagging the award while speaking in an interview with GNA Entertainment.

According to her, the award is the in an interview with GNA Entertainment, she said the award was the biggest acknowledgement since the onset of her musical career.

“It is the greatest so far in my career so yes it means a lot to me. However, I believe this would encourage every female rapper out there to believe that they can also do it,” she said.

“I always wanted Ghana to know that when it comes to rap, we the women are as good as the men, and I believe it’s clear now. This time around it is a woman selling Ghana to the world with the rap,”

Eno Barony's manager, Giza, also talked up the achievement an interview with Happy FM’s Doctar Cann on the ‘Showbiz Xtra’ show.

“This award will open a lot of doors for us. Before, if you wanted a feature with international artistes they look at some of these things, your numbers and awards.

"Honestly next year we have a lot of surprises and we are looking to put out a lot of international collaborations”.

“So far it is the greatest award we have received on behalf of Eno Barony. It means a lot. More importantly, she tries to do things that will incite the other female rappers in Ghana in particular so that they also believe that they can do it with rap. I mean it is a big thing. And we are really happy about it”, he bragged.
