The Oyo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has lamented that many policemen in the state are yet to resume their official duties.

NUJ revealed that a sizable number of policemen attached to the state police command are yet to resume their official duties after the recent End SARS protests.

NUJ in a statement issued after its November Congress in Ibadan also denounced the worsening security problem in Nigeria.

The council in the statement signed by its three-man statement drafting committee led by Adewale Tijani (Chairman), Semiu Azeez and Temilade Aloko, however, appealed to the Federal Government to address the situation to allow Nigerians sleep with their eyes closed.

The union then appealed to the Inspector General of Police to prevail on his men to return to work, according to Daily Post.

The statement reads: ''The Congress also observed that following the #Endsars protests aimed at curtailing the police brutality, many police officers are yet to resume their official duties. It then appealed to the Inspector General of Police to prevail on his men to return to work.

“The setting up of Judicial Panels to address complaints of victims of police brutality was appreciated. Members of the Panels were then enjoined to perform their tasks with the fear of God.

''The Congress noted that the problem of unemployment in Nigeria is becoming worrisome and then advised the Federal Government to compel all its agencies to employ graduates roaming the streets in search of works.

”The Congress expressed concern at the prolonged ASUU strike and called on the Federal Government to accede to ASUU demands with a view to allowing Nigerian Universities to resume academic activities.”
