Ghanaian artiste, Wendy Shay has narrated the negative experiences she passed through on joining Rufftown Records in 2018.

Prior to her signing the record label was famous for being the home of the late phenom, Ebony Reigns, who died in an accident on the 8th of February, 2018 on her way to Accra from Sunyani.

According to her, when she joined the record label, fans thought she came to enjoy all the hard work Ebony Reigns laid down therefore they threatened to physically harm her.

“Before I even released my first song immediately Bullet introduced me on the stage, the next day I started getting death threat messages…they are gonna kill me. People write me in my DMs (Direct Messages) ‘I know where you live I’m coming to kill you because you are trying to take Ebony’s place and you can never be like the queen (Ebony)’,” she said while speaking to Miriam Osei Agyemang on the Urban Blend on 3FM.

“They felt like I wanted to gain their love for Ebony by force without not doing anything…because ‘you haven’t done anything we should just accept you’. I’ve been through a lot.” She continued.

The "Emergency" hitmaker revealed how she was introduced to music by CEO of RuffTown Records, Bullet, who immediately signed her in January 2018.

She then confessed how Ebony Reigns had inspired her to work with the label.

"When I saw her I was like wow if she could do it, I could do it too. So if I’m coming to Ghana and it’s not RuffTown Records then there is no need for me to come”.

“So when I came in and these things were happening I didn’t panic so much because I knew what I carried, I knew what I had in me and I knew that …time heals wounds. I realized that it’s gonna come to a time that where Ghanaians are gonna appreciate my effort and my hard work, my talent, my gift. I was just praying to God…,”

“I was also healing too because Ebony I told you she inspired me so I could understand them that was how come I didn’t put too much pressure on myself,” she concluded.
