Cyber Fraud In Africa Is Not An Advanced Knowledge In Computers To Cheat. It’s About Seeking For A Dark Power To Charm Your Pal At The Other End Of The Computer

Cyber Fraud has been rampant across the world, yes we all know and do believe hence the rate of caution for internet users. Initially, it was game boys duping foreigners in the name of sympathy. I remember it started when we were kids. We will write a pen pal from our village to the western world narrating all forms of lies on our dead but alive fathers; how our mother is suffering to take care of us just because we wanted a little aid for the Whiteman. At the end, when reply of these letters were received in parcels, all we witness is Bibles and books about Salvation.

It was fun then to speak a lie and have your words of deceit rewarded with Jesus books. We gave the books out not knowing its significance until we grew. Then all of a sudden, as eyes were opened and Christ was infused in us, the term internet scam came into being. These “game boys” who cannot even construct better diction will sit at internet cafes and chat with a pal, the next thing you will see is them riding in a luxurious cars. When a cnsultation is made, all you will hear is “I tricked the Whiteman and woman for money.” How did he do it? Is it with his grade F English Language mark? You sometimes look at the appearance of these guys and you wonder why you cannot receive such favors through your better wording and friendship. 

As time progressed, I took it upon myself to investigate why people of such have access to receive huge sum from friends through the Bank and more importantly, why their “control” ie. money received from their white pals need to be withdrawn from banks by either their girlfriends or mothers. It was not easy revealing themselves at the teller’s counter. I encountered a guy and his girlfriend who have dropped out of Senior High School in the name of making money online. As I begun to enquire from them, how they wear expensive shoes and clothing holding such a costly laptop with no palpable work, the guy spoke about the online deal which he tried not to explain further.

At first, he described the work as online marketing but as the conversation got intense, he introduced the lady as his partner in business. Well, I was not catching the picture as to how these uninformed personalities can handle such a trade for dollars and pounds. It was there that the lady who care less about her life spoke of going nude in front of cameras for the whites to have a sense of affection; I mean a live video cam revealing the nakedness of a lady. Sex on a cam. I was baffled and enquired that monies paid by the people at the other end is not as much to buy a dear laptop for work. How do they earn money for the cars they ride in?

Sometimes it is good to stay silent and observe but the best way is to advance yourself in I.T (Information Technology) in such a world and monitor the tactics and antics of victims. It was not just about convincing the whites for money. it was more than that. Good friendship with someone online can attract sums like one-fifty, hundred, two hundred and three hundred dollars. Yes, that is sometimes alright but to go above two hundred thousand, hundred thousand and half a million dollars within weeks and months of friendship through the internet is something too strange to understand. Fraud boys are smart and complicated; they make friends not from the ordinary but among themselves. They keep themselves isolated so questioning them on their job is something they will never reveal to you. The sacrifices they make as they sit in front of the screen and the decisions they take is way beyond the natural man’s way of life. “It’s about having an encounter and summoning spirits to deal on your behalf.

These demons wind the minds of the atheist pal whom we chat and by the time they realize, every dollar they have in the bank is transferred to us” one boy revealed. “We make sacrifices a lot through blood sacrifice, sleeping with girls and wiping their semen with a handkerchief for rituals. If you cannot sacrifice stuffs, you will not get stuff. If any fraud boy riding in cars say he has no demonic backing, tell him he is lying to you. Some even go on to sleep with their mothers, sisters and family relatives. As for mad women, there is a lot to tell in the middle of the night” another boldly declared.

The questions I was seeking was well answered when a courageous speech was made concerning how these guys come about winning trophies from a normal chat. “there is nothing like a normal chat. It starts with 10, 20, 50 to 100 dollars but as the game get intense, you will be tempted to seek spiritual backing. Cyber fraud here in Africa is not an advanced knowledge in computers to cheat. It’s about seeking for a dark power to charm your pal.”

A lot of youth in Ghana today especially the Zongo Communities have lost interest in schools due to how lucrative the internet scam business decorates them. Analysis made in the beginning of the year shows that, in the next five years, 40 percent of youth in Ghana will be engaged in the indecent act with 30 percent emerging from the Zongo Communities. The government must enforce some rules to this, the Churches must pray hard and parents’ way of nurturing children should be in the fear of the LORD else Ghana in the coming years will be ruled and governed by a bunch of fraud leaders.
