The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Patrick Aboagye has asked Ghanaians to disregard information circulating on social media revealing Covid-19 hotspots in Ghana.

According to Dr. Aboagye, the news is fake and does not help in the life threatening pandemic.

 

 

40-names of suburbs in Ghana were released by an unknown person disclosing locations tainted by the coronavirus on WhatsApp. The places were mentioned to make Ghanaians vigilant of the negative impact of Covid-19 in areas like, Nungua Market, Dzorwulu, Madina, East Legon – all in the Greater Accra Region.

The Ashanti region recorded names like KNUST junction, Asuoyeboah, Bekwai, Asamankese, Adeiso and Obuasi Tutuka. The rest logged places like Tema, Ashaiman Nsawam and many others.

Dr. Patrick Aboagye tweeted on Wednesday that the news is false.

“! FAKE NEWS ALERT! Please kindly disregard this information circulating on social media!!! Thank you!” he wrote.
