COVID-19: Ghana’s Death toll rise to 199; Case Count Exceeds 39,000

Eight more persons have died from the coronavirus disease in Ghana, pushing the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 199.

The national cumulative tally of the virulent disease has also increased to 39,075, after 574 persons tested positive.

This was contained in the recent update from the Ghana Health Service today, August 5, 2020.

According to the GHS, the new COVID-19 cases were recorded from samples taken from the period 23 June to 1 August 2020

Per the latest figures, 1,250 patients have recovered/discharged from the virulent disease, increasing the total recovery count to 35,563.

Ghana’s current active case count stands at 3,313.

Out of this number, seven are in a critical condition, five on ventilators, and 23 in severe condition.

A total of 405,817 tests have been conducted in the country since March 2020.
