Chairman Wontumi speaks on 'science and data' elections, explains the mystery of 'Agenda 47-47'
Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako has defined the December 7 General Elections as ‘Science and Data’ meaning that per the incumbent government's statistical foresight based on the new voter’s registration exercise, victory is assured for the NPP.

The Ashanti Region has a total of 47 constituencies, 44 of the parliamentary seats is possessed by the ruling government, with the other three owned by the National Democratic Congress.

The Regional Chairman in his address revealed that the NPP will conquer all the 47 seats in the Ashanti Region hence their campaign theme, “Agenda 47-47”.

The New Patriotic Party on Sunday, September 28, 2020, congregated at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Great Hall to Launch and Outdooring of Parliamentary candidates. The process is normally done in the various constituencies but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the party executives chose to come together and unveil candidates, and also send out a message to Ghanaians that the NPP is well prepared for the elections.

16 Regional Ministers and Regional chairmen who also serve as campaign managers in their various regions were present to have a word with the candidates and make known of the various courses outlined by the party ahead of the polls, aimed at contributing victory to the NPP.

“We have been able to acquire candidates who can garner us the needed votes from the 47 constituencies. In the 2016 elections, we won 44 seats and three went to the NDC in the Ashanti Region. Our numbers last season was massive apart from the three remaining constituencies. but let's not forget that the 2020 election is a science and data elections."

Optimistically, Bernard Antwi Boasiako exposed that the three seats – Asawase, Ejura-Sekyeredumase, Sekyere Afram Plains, which have been hard to take over by the New Patriotic Party after the new Voters’ register have had challenges believed to be data misrepresentation resolved.

Assuredly, he announced that everything is in order to conquer every seat in the 47 constituencies.

“At Asawase in 2016, the NDC won massively by 6,000 vote difference. After the 2020 new registration exercise, we discovered that there has been a weakening of 17,000 against the NDC whiles the NPP experienced a rise in numbers of 4,000. Which means no matter what happens, we will take over that seat.

"At Ejura Sekyedumase, the NPP lost by 1,400 in 2016. After the registration, there was a loss of 258 voters against the NDC whiles the NPP acquired a plus of 4,580. Meaning if deductions are made, the NPP will be winners.

"At Sekyere Afram Plains, the numbers are in our favour which gives us the platform to win all the 47 seats in the Ashanti Region. This is science and data and we have been able to determine what is likely to transpire in December. We have a lot of things ahead to be victors in the weeks ahead to make our victory meriting,” he said.

Parliamentary candidates from the various constituencies were presented and officially endorsed by party executives.
