Boycotting Kokrokoo, an Act of Cowardice – Kwaku Baako Jabs NDC

Veteran Journalist, Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako Jnr has chided the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for boycotting popular morning show on Peace FM, “Kokrokoo”.

The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper said the decision by the NDC was “wrong” and “unsustainable”.

The NDC boycotted the popular political radio show over claims of “unfair paneling system”.

The boycott took effect from May 6th, 2020.

A statement from the party signed by its National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, asserted that, the main reason for the planned boycott has to do with “ the unreasonable decision of the Producers and Host of the program to permanently reserve one (1) of the two (2) slots the party has traditionally had on Wednesdays on the show to Mr. Allotey Jacobs, who is often introduced by the host of the program as a ‘Social Commentator with strong leanings to the NDC’, ostensibly to spite the NDC”

The decision by the party was accompanied by the suspension of its former Central Regional Chairman, Allotey Jacobs – who was a regular panellist on the show- over claims of “persistent anti-party conduct”.

Reacting to Allotey Jacobs’ suspension on the Kokrokoo programme, on Wednesday [May 13, 2020], Kwaku Baako said the party should have directed its anger at the production team of the show, not its former Regional Chairman.

“They were talking to the production team about the having two slots on the show which was resisted. So they should have blamed only the production team. What authority does Allotey Jacobs have to come to the place? He only comes here upon invitation”

Kwaku Baako questioned the underlying basis for the boycott of the programme, saying it was dent on the party.

“A whole party, ‘big one’, that has been in government several times, took such a decision?” he asserted.
