Before the quarter finals, you'd think there’s nothing we can achieve - Lyon coach
Rudi Garcia

Coach of Olympique Lyon, Rudi Garcia has held that out of the favorable teams predicted to be in the semifinals, his side were never reflected, for that reason, he does not expect the guesses to be in his favor as he faces a vibrant Bayern Munich side.

The manager endorsed that they are 'outsiders' and will treat the game as the former with the concentration of making it to the finals. Bayern and Lyon’s meeting is the ninth in the European competition – the Bavarians have won four, Lyon victorious on two occasions and two in a stalemate.

Lyon conquered former England champions, Manchester City by 3-1, cutting out the expectations of Pep Guardiola to win his second, and City’s first European trophy in his third term of office. Meeting a Bayern side that crushed Barcelona by 8-2 is a threatening fixture but Rudi has promised normalcy in his side’s game plan.

"They’re a complete team. If you looked at the stats and also the stats of Man,” he said.

“City before the [quarter-final] match then you'd think there’s nothing we can achieve. It’s the same now with Bayern when you look at the stats, but we approach it the same as the other matches before. “We are the outsiders but we have the same opportunity to qualify for the final and if we can take advantage of it we will get there," he added.

Hans Flick praised the quality of the French side and dissolved complacency from his side. He assured that his boys will try and do what is desired to take them to the finals.

"I hope we analyzed them very well. We are aware of their quality; they defend very well and are very compact with a lot of players behind the ball and they run a lot. They always have a lot of quality in attack so it's important for us to do the right things on the pitch."

Winner of the tie will play Paris St Germain, who have already advanced into the final round following their 3-0 victory over RB Leipzig.
