Kai Havertz

Havertz's future is now in the hands of Chelsea; whether they will include the 21-year old as part of Lampard’s project in the coming weeks is yet to be decided.

The German international was on the radar of Bayern Munich, nonetheless, after the acquisition of Leroy Sane, the Bundesliga Champions have decided not to pursue the Leverkusen forward due to financial constraints.

According to Bayern Munich Chief, Uli Hoeness, the club will not invest in any major transfer unless there are funds available to do so.

"I am sure that, after Leroy Sane, there will be no major transfers this year. That has nothing to do with the quality of Havertz. We all think he is a very, very good player.

"But in the coronavirus period after a transfer of almost €50m, one of €70m, €80m or more I can't imagine making unless we secure counter-financing through player sales," He told German outlet FAZ.

Bayern and Manchester City agreed on a deal worth up to €60m (£54.8m) on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. The Bavarians paid an initial €49m (£44.7m) for Sané with another €11m (£10.1m) in add-ons, while City have also secured a 10 percent sell-on clause.

Chelsea must activate Havertz’s €94.7m release clause of Havertz before he can join the Blues train.

Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have already begun preseason following their hefty purchases.
