Thomas Muller says Messi’s move away from Barcelona is good for World football but will have a demeaning effect on fans who have their hopes built in the number 10.

Muller undoubtedly expressed that the 33-year old Argentine is the best football has ever produced and his new path, in case the move happens would be one of the stories everyone would like to follow.

"Messi is one of the best players on the planet, also in the last 100 years," Muller said at an event hosted by Mobelhaus Hoffner.

"A change may be interesting for the world of football, except for Barcelona fans.

"Nobody is critical of this. On the contrary, I am curious to see what his new path would bring."

The 30-year-old German was part of Bayern Munich’s Triple 2020 squad that won the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and the recent Champions League trophy.

Muller was the man of the match, notching two goals against Barcelona in their 8-2 Champions League defeat, which will forever go in the history books of world football.

He identified that Blaugranas demonstrated signs of defeat during their warm-up exercise before the game granting that they didn’t expect to win the single-legged encounter in that margin.

"They were very relaxed. That doesn't have to mean anything.

"The match could have ended differently, but I think it turned out that we were very hungry."

On whether he will be glad if Messi joins the Bavarians ahead of the upcoming season, he said "I've talked to our CFO a couple of times and I don't think we can do anything about it," he teased.
