Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for Ahafo Ano North steps down during vetting process
He has explained that his decision is a personal one and for the best interest of the party

Aspiring Parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party in the Ahafo Ano North, Thomas Forkuor has stepped down during vetting process in the race to contest incumbent MP, Hon. Samid Sulemana in the upcoming primaries.
The decision according to Mr. Forkuor is a personal one made not out of compulsion by party executives but “for the best of party interest.”
“NPP is a democratic party and we are all united as one. The party executives spoke to me against contesting the incumbent MP, which was not by compulsion.
“They appealed to me and I personally considered the interest of the party. I want to support Hon. Samid Sulemana so that together we can win the sit for the second time again. I am doing this for the interest of the party, no one forced me to,” he declared.
Incumbent MP, Hon. Samid Sulemana expressed sincere appreciation to his challenger for the demonstration of professionalism. He declared that with the support of Thomas Forkuor and his followers, the NPP can outstretch the National Democratic Congress in the general elections by a wider margin.

“This is an expression of love. Just as he said, politics is full of compromisers. You cannot always compete to the end. He has accepted to step down and support me for another term. I am very content with his decision and I believe with his knowledge, we can win 6,000 votes as compared to the 4,460 that gave us the victory over the NDC last time”, he said.
The General Secretary of the Party, Mr. John Boadu with delight labelled the sincerity of the aspiring candidate as sacrificial and called on others to learn from him. He promised to that the party would continue to support Thomas Forkuor and offer him a role to play in the party when at the appropriate time.
“This is an act of kindness by the candidate. This is a message to the NPP fraternity that selflessness and sacrifice is all that matters. The party will keep supporting him and will make sure to offer him a task to perform in the near future when the opportunity present itself.”
