Apostle St. Sark granted Bail after violating COVID-19 laws

The Ashanti Regional Police Command Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASP Godwin Ahianyo has updated that Apostle Kofi Nkansah Sarkodie has been granted bail together with two other church officers who were arrested on Wednesday, March 19, 2020.

The Head pastor of Open Arms Ministries at North Suntreso was held by the Ashanti Regional Police Command for violating the measures put in place by the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo to curb the COVID-19 from spreading.

 

 

St. Sark, popularly known by members permitted church service at the Open Arms Ministries Church, an act of challenge to the country leaders against the ban of public gathering exposing his congregation to the risk of contracting the coronavirus.

According to ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the ‘Man of God’s’ act “breaches peace and pose immediate risk to health due to the COVID-19 outbreak.”

“We have laws in the country to deal with such. The Criminal Offensive Act section 202 mandated us to halt his activity.

“We have taken his statement and granted him bail together with two church officers,” he said.

ASP Godwin Ahianyo urged citizens to go by the preventive measures in ensuring that safety remains one key element against the pandemic COVID-19 disease. He promised that the Police would do everything possible in their means to help control the spread of coronavirus.

“We are entreating the public to go by the preventive measures put in place in order to stay safe. As the Police Command, we are also playing our role to help minimize the risk the nation is going through.
