Thiago Alcantara has broken off talks with Bayern Munich to extend his contract due to his interest in Jurgen Klopp’s project at Anfield.

The BILD reports that Jurgen Klopp’s admiration for the Spaniard is huge and will seek to include him in his Liverpool squad ahead of next season to defend the Premier League title.

Thiago’s current contract runs out next year and further talks with the Bavarians to secure a new deal seems not materializing after two months of negotiation.

His £43m price tag is likely to put off Liverpool’s interest after failing to activate Timo Werner’s, 50m buyout clause few weeks ago.

Jurgen Klopp refused to pay £50m for Werner due to the economic capsize caused by the coronavirus pandemic for the past months of inactive sporting activities with a value of £30m pounds placed on Werner in today’s market before Chelsea took advantage and signed the German.

“At the moment, all clubs are losing money. Without spectators, we have to pay back the season tickets and probably sell none next year,” Klopp said on why Liverpool refused to sign Werner.

“At least maybe without the first 10 or 15 games. The VIP areas won’t be packed and the tickets won’t be sold. This will have an impact on other partners and things will look a bit different.

“Discussing with the players about things like salary waivers and on the other hand buying a player for £50-60m, we have to explain.”
