Africa's richest man and the Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has shown his support for Okonjo-Iweala's World Trade Organisation Director-General bid.

He made this known via his official Twitter handle today. 

He tweeted: "In these challenging times WTO needs the renowned skills and tested experience of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala to lead the organization through identified obstacles and strengthen its position as the prime facilitator of international trade. 

"A vote for her by all is a step in the right direction. I fully endorse the candidature of NOIweala to lead WTO.

Reacting to this, Ngozi appreciated Dangote.

She said: "Thank you Aliko my Brother for these wonderful words. As a globally acclaimed Businessman, your knowledge about WTO and your confidence in my ability to serve is much appreciated.

It was earlier reported that the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Helen Clark, had joined a host of others including Julia Gillard and Gordon Brown in backing the former Finance Minister in her bid.

Recall, Ngozi, while launching her bid for the position of director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), said she is the right candidate for the job, she assured that she would use her experience to bring fresh ideas to WTO.
